Club Rules & Constitution

FORDS Badminton Club (Revised and adopted 21st July 2008)

AClub name and affiliation

The club will be called Fords Badminton Club and will be affiliated to BADMINTON England. Through the Liverpool & District Badminton League and Lancashire.

BAims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the club will be to:

•play and promote badminton in the local community

•offer badminton coaching and competition opportunities to all members

•provide duty of care and protection to all club members

•to provide all its services in a way that is fair to everyone

•to ensure that all present and future members are treated equitably.

CFinance and Accounts

All club monies will be banked in an account held in the name of the club.

Fords Badminton Club at Lloyds TSB.

The accounts will be kept by the Treasurer(s), and audited annually.

The financial year of the club will end on 31st July each year.

Any cheques drawn against club funds will be signed by authorised signatories.

Should Fords Badminton Club no longer be viable and the accounts need to be wound up then any residual funds, after all creditors have been satisfied, shall be donated to the league with similar aims and objectives.

Subscriptions shall be paid annually, in advance, from the 1st Monday in August. Juniors and students receiving full time education will be eligible for a reduced annual subscription agreed at the AGM. Fees will be reviewed annually at the AGM or EGM called for that purpose.

DRunning of the Club

The club will be managed by a committee of fully paid up members consisting of:

•Honorary President

•Chairperson

•Treasurer

•Secretary

•Volunteer Co-ordinator

•Child Protection Officers

•And a minimum of four additional committee members.

Committee members will retire annually and be eligible for re-election at the AGM.

The number of teams to enter the local league will be decided by the committee at the AGM.

EMembership

Membership shall consist of: Adult and junior members.

Guests will be allowed at the discretion of the committee.

The committee will have the power to decide on the membership quota and may introduce any rules concerning the running of the club and not covered by this constitution.

The committee shall have the power to terminate the membership of any member bringing the game or Club into disrepute.

Membership fees to the club are no guarantee of a team place.

Once paid, fees are non refundable.

All members will be subject to the constitution and codes of conduct adopted by the club.

Fees will be set and reviewed annually by the committee and approved at the AGM.

Fords Junior Club is a subsidiary of the Fords Badminton Club and as such has adopted and agreed to abide by all the Club’s policies and procedures. The Junior Club will administer their own accounts.

The rules for playing will be those imposed by the Liverpool & District Badminton League and Badminton England.


FChild Protection

The child protection officers, agree to adopt the BADMINTON England Child Protection Policy and Implementation Procedures. All individual members are deemed to have assented to the BADMINTON England Child Protection Policy and Code of Ethics and Conduct (“Code”) and as such recognise and adhere to the principles and responsibilities embodied in these documents.


GAGM

The Annual General Meeting will be held in June/July. At least 14 days’ notice will be given to members. If the requisite number of nominations have not been received nominations will be accepted from the floor at the AGM.

The Agenda will include:

•a report from the committee

•Treasurer’s report and the year’s accounts

•Resignation of the current committee

•Election of the committee for the coming year.

All members have the right to vote at the AGM.

Members have the right to call for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

It shall be held at the request of at least 25% of members.

Notice for an EGM will be the same as for an AGM.

The committee will have the power to appoint sub-committees and to fill vacancies which may occur during the year.

HA resolution to dissolve the club can only be passed at an AGM or EGM through a majority vote of the membership. In the event of dissolution, any assets of the club that remain will become the property of the Liverpool & District Badminton League or other organisation

with similar objectives to those of the club.

IConstitution Changes

This Constitution can be changed only by majority vote at an AGM.
